Andrew-HallowayI HAVE 20 years of experience in Christian publishing and a first class honours degree. I am now a freelance editor, writer and publishing consultant.

I worked for CWR (Crusade for World Revival) in Surrey as an editor and writer for four years and for CPO (Christian Publishing and Outreach) in Sussex as editorial manager and then publishing manager for eight years. At New Life Publishing, where I was editorial manager for five years, I was editor of an evangelistic newspaper called New Life, deputy editor of the official monthly magazines of two national church denominations, and produced marketing and publicity literature. I am also a published author and have edited books and websites.

My current work includes editing Good News – a national monthly evangelistic newspaper (www.goodnews-paper.org.uk) – and writing regularly for a Christian news and comment website called Lifebite (www.lifebite.co.uk).

Current and past clients include:

Bible Society; Kingsway Publishing; Kevin Mayhew; Good News newspaper; Lifebite.co.uk; Go Teach; New Life Publishing; Rob Brown; Urban Saints; Kent Kreations

Some of my publishing achievements…

  • While editor of a national Christian newspaper, in five years I took the annual circulation from 150,000 to 600,000, while keeping to budget. Currently I am editor of another Christian national monthly newspaper: the circulation rose from 47,000 to 63,000 in the first year under my editorship
  • When I was editor of a bi-monthly children’s publication, the circulation increased from 11,000 to 20,000 in four years, whilst I redesigned and updated the format and simultaneously achieved a significant reduction in production costs
  • As managing editor of a monthly comic, I increased circulation from 500 to 9,000 in two years
  • I wrote invitations that sold between three and five million copies each year, for eight years
  • Of publications I have personally authored, the highest individual sellers are: an invitation folder – 386,100; a 4-page A4 brochure - 252,000; a 16-page A5 booklet - 52,000; a 28-page A4 booklet – 30,000
  • Highest selling publication I originated, edited and part-authored: a 44-page colour booklet – 500,000 copies in 12 language editions (for which I also managed production)
  • Managed publishing programmes of both charities and companies to deadlines
  • Won 2008 Press Association Caption Competition
